Our Collaborative Partnerships with PASA and PAN for Africa-Global Payment Summit 2019
PASA is the payment system management body recognised by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB). As per the terms of the National Payment System Act of 1998, they are mandated to organise, manage and regulate the participation of its members in the payment system.
PAN controls and organises the National Payment System (NPS) in Namibia, this consisting of the financial market infrastructure including various systems, networks and technological processes required for the proper conducting and completion of financial transactions.
“The beautiful thing about payments and payment systems is that it requires collaboration at so many levels. It is an industry that pulls people, companies, expertise and skills from all walks of life together to create something almost invisible, but really powerful and economically critical. For this very reason, we believe that connecting people at events such as the Africa GPS is of utmost importance. We are excited to be involved in this initiative that will bring people from all over Africa together to learn from one another and we encourage colleagues in South Africa and all over Africa to come along and join the conversation.”- Leticia Mentz, Industry Capability Development and Communication, PASA
“Each country strives towards the most up-to-date infrastructure for transferring money between our country and others, as well as among banking institutions, merchants, payment service providers and customers, while using payment instruments such as debit and credit cards, cheques, electronic fund transfers (EFTs) and mobile payments, amongst others. Payments are so dynamic and as the backbone of any country, PAN is delighted to be a part of the Africa GPS to collaborate with all the stakeholders in the value chain of payments. We would like to extend the invitation to all countries to join us at the Africa GPS to build capacity and to share the valuable knowledge of payments.” – Annette Rathenam, Chief Operating Officer, PAN
